Getting Started

Follow these steps in order to set up and run the Calamari loader.

Step 1: Disable Antivirus & Anti-Cheat

Temporarily disable any antivirus or anti-cheat software that may block the loader.

Examples:

• Windows Defender

• Vanguard

• Avast

• Any other security software

⚠️ Important: Can use sordum to disable windows defender.

Step 2: Enable Windows Exploit Protection

Exploit Protection must be enabled for ESP features to work correctly.

Open Windows Security

1. Open the Start menu

2. Search for "Windows Security"

3. Select Windows Security from the results

Navigate to Exploit Protection

1. In the left sidebar, click App & browser control

2. In the Exploit protection section, click Exploit protection settings

Configure System Settings

1. Open the System settings tab

2. For each mitigation listed:

   • If it shows On → you're good

   • If it shows Off → turn it On

   • If there's an override toggle/checkbox → enable it and set to On

Check Program Settings

1. Open the Program settings tab

2. Remove any overrides that force mitigations to Off

3. If unsure, leave program settings at system defaults

Restart Your Computer

Close Windows Security and restart your PC to apply the changes system-wide.

⚠️ Note: These are system-wide security settings. Only modify them if you understand the tradeoffs.

Step 3: Sign In to Steam

1. Open Steam

2. Sign in with an account that owns Rust

3. Ensure Rust is installed on your system

⚠️ Important: You must be signed in to Steam before running the loader.

Step 4: Download the Loader

Visit the Download Page

Go to: https://www.calamari.lol/loader

Download the Latest Version

Download the most recent loader file from the page.

If Windows Blocks the Download

If Windows Defender or SmartScreen blocks the download:

1. Open a support ticket in our Discord

2. Our team will help you resolve the issue

Step 5: Install Dependencies

If you encounter Error 705–707, you need to install DirectX:

1. Download DirectX from the official Microsoft website

2. Run the installer

3. Restart your computer

Ready to launch? Once you've completed all steps, you can run the loader and start playing!
